A mobile app offers your business an incredible opportunity to engage directly with customers and colleagues, wherever they are.
Plymouth Software specialise in developing custom, native apps that take full advantage of the benefits offered by mobile platforms – GPS location, multimedia, web connectivity, near-field communication (NFC), and much more.
Mobile usage is growing at a phenomenal rate, and more people are accessing (and expecting to access) companies via the mobile web and apps. Plymouth Software can work with you to design and build an app that matches your corporate brand, and tie it together with new and existing web services and databases to provide a tightly integrated solution.
To help you plan your app, we've answered a few of the most common questions below.
Contact us or complete the form below and we'll get back in touch to have a confidential chat about your idea, and how we can work together to build it.
Do you develop for Android and iPhone?
Yes. We’ve always developed for Android, and from 2012, we’re pleased to be able to offer a full development service for apps running on iOS (iPhone/iPod and iPad).
Can my app connect to my website?
Usually, yes. One of most exciting things about mobile apps is the ability to provide your staff and customers with up to date information wherever they are. If your website exposes its content in a suitable format, your mobile app can make use of that data.
In some cases, we’ll need to write an interface (called an API) between your mobile app and your website, or a custom website that we build for you.
As part of our initial engagement, we can look at your existing website and databases, and let you know how they can be integrated with your mobile app.
How much will my app cost?
Like any software project, an app's cost is determined by its complexity and the amount of time necessary to build it – every project has a different price.
To give some guidance, though, we recommend starting with a budget of around £2,000 – £4,000 for a single or dual-platform app. For more complex apps that require us to provision a web-based application (for example, an order management system that connects with your app), we recommend budgeting around £5,000 — £10,000, depending on the complexity of your requirements.
For larger projects, and those projects that have very specific requirements, we may recommend a short feasibility study so we can give you an accurate quote for your project.
As every project is different, please contact us to discuss your specific requirements. We are happy to provide budget estimates without obligation.
Will my app make any money?
Stories of an app’s overnight success are often recited, but there are hundreds of thousands of apps available on the various market places. Just as with any other product, a financially successful app will need to be backed by a strong marketing campaign. Even then, once you factor in the costs of developing and marketing your app, the financial reward through direct sales is likely to be low.
So we advise against developing apps to profit from direct sales. Instead, we strongly believe mobile apps are now a core part of your business activity. Your app might be a marketing tool to create awareness and communicate with customers, engage through social networks, and generate sales through mobile commerce; or perhaps a utility to improve your business processes, facilitating better communication within your organisation, managing sales orders, or tracking your fleet of vehicles.
